History

To get where you’re going, you have to know where you come from. Sam Krausert was a pioneering roughneck on the steam rigs of Turner Valley. Sam started Beaver Drilling in 1965 with one rig and a belief that hard work makes everything possible.

Sam cracked the American ownership’s monopoly on the Canadian drilling market and founded the first Canadian owned drilling company. He built a foundation of loyalty around lifelong employees who shared his work ethic. The Krausert family still runs Beaver, which is the largest family-owned and operated drilling company in Canada. As a result, Beaver Drilling is also the oldest standing member of the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors.

We’re proud to carry on Sam’s values by giving people the opportunity to work hard and live large. We carry on his legacy by focusing on the people in our company and rewarding them. We have maintained our reputation within the industry by focusing on customer service and providing consistent and reliable results.
